B5 were like the early millennium version of the Jackson 5—five brothers with sweet voices and looks that made middle school girls swoon. A group of Georgia cutie pies signed to Diddy’s Bad Boy Entertainment, they quickly became worldwide sensations with their chart-topping hit singles “All I Do” and “U Got Me,” landing them tour dates alongside artists ranging from Kanye West and Usher to Ciara and Chris Brown. But this newfound popularity quickly waned and the group eventually lost momentum.
After a quiet second album Don’t Talk, Just Listen, a departure from Bad Boy Records and several attempts at reinventing themselves (including a name change to Audio before returning to B5), the Breeding brothers are back with a bang. On their newest track “Say Yes,” the all-grown-up collective mixes harmonious melodies to paint a picture of an innocent love story. “I want you to be mine, so just say yes,” they sing.
Long gone are the days of childhood frenzy. This time around, B5 has the grown women swooning. Take a listen above. — Shannon Powell
