Lane Bryant President and CEO, Linda Heasley doesn’t think her company’s new campaign is taking shots at the largest retailer of lingerie, but even if you beg to differ, you have to admit, it’s about time someone takes a stand.
Victoria’s Secret received a handful of backlash last year with one specific ad, which featured a slim set of “Angels” for their ‘The Perfect “Body”‘ campaign. Lane Bryant is flipping the script with their intimate apparel collection, Cacique, with a focus to “celebrate women of all shapes and sizes by redefining society’s traditional notion of sexy with a powerful core message: ALL women are sexy.”
They’re doing just that with #ImNoAngel, featuring “plus-size” models, Candice Huffine, Ashley Graham, Justine Legault, Elly Mayday, Marquita Pring, and Victoria Lee who declare, “How boring would it be if we were all the same?” With a diverse body of women backing Lane Bryant’s aim, we have no choice but to side-eye Vicky’s.
From the models sharing words of encouragement, like “thick thighs save lives,” to “beauty is beyond size,” the #ImNoAngel campaign has received positive feedback from men and women alike, worldwide.
Vixens, check out the ad and weigh in on Lane Bryant’s stand on self-love through lingerie.
