Game nights happen at any moment. It can be pre-planned, weeks in advance or a spur of the moment for snowy nights like the one most of us are experiencing tonight. The best part of getting together with longtime friends or new acquaintances in these settings is with a drinking game. It helps loosen up the air and well…it’s always a good time. If you’re a traditionalist, you can head to Spencers and stack up on their pre-made shot for shot games or you can be like us and create new ones or turn your family games into alcohol-friendly ones.

What You Need: Cards and a cup
Amount of players: 3+
How You Play: You spread the cards in a circle face down around the empty cup. Going clockwise, each person takes a turn picking a card and doing the responding rule to that card. There are tons of rule variations to this game, but here’s ours:
1-Run or waterfall (The first person takes drink from their cup and everyone IN ORDER from the right you must drink and can only stop when the same person on the right stops.)
2- You (who ever picks up this card picks someone to take a shot)
3- Me (if you picked this card, you take the shot)
4- Floor (point or touch the floor, last person to touch the floor takes a shot)
5- Guys (all the guys playing take a shot)
6- Chicks (all the girls playing take a shot)
7- Heaven (point to the sky, the last person to point to the sky takes a shot)
8- Mate (You pick someone to drink with you throughout the game so every time you take a shot, they take a shot)
9-Rhyme (You say a word then go around the circle with everyone saying a word that rhymes with that word you said, whoever messes up takes a shot — ie. time, dime, crime, grime)
10-Never Have I Ever (You put up 3 fingers and go around in a circle confessing things you’ve never done. If you done it you put down your fingers, the first person to put all three fingers down takes a shot)
Jack-Make a Rule (You make a rule–like no one can laugh–that rule is valid until another Jack is drawn. If they break the rule while it’s still valid the person has to take a shot)
Queen- Questions ( You go around answering a question with a question, the first person to actually answer the question takes a shot)
King-The person has to pour a shot or whatever is in their cup in the cup that’s in the middle, the last person to draw a king has to drink everything in that cup.
Higher or Lower
What You Need: Cards
Amount of Players: 2+
How You Play: One person plays the dealer and they flip the first card over. The next person guesses whether the next number the dealer will flip over will be higher or lower than the last number flipped. If the person that guesses the number is wrong they take a shot, if they are right the dealer moves to the next person. If you play this game with only two people, you can switch being dealer per turn.
No Lefty’s Allowed
How To Play: A fun throughout the night game, but very bias. If you’re caught with a drink in your left hand you have to chug whatever is in that cup or bottle. Not a game for those who are left handed.
Depth Chug
What You Need: Pint glass and Shot glass
Amount of Players: 2+
How You Play: You fill the glass halfway with beer and then you place a the shot glass of top of the beer so it’s floating. Every player has a chance to fill the shot glass with alcohol without the glass tipping over into the beer. If it mixes you have to chug it.
369
Amount of Players: 4+
How You Play: The first person starts at any number of their choice excluding 3,6, and 9. The next person to the left of them goes in sequential order after that avoiding any numbers that include 3, 6, or 9 in them. If they say the number they take a shot and they start the next round.
What You Need: Cards and plastic spoons
Amount of Players: 3+
How You Play: You can play this game sitting or standing but must be in a circle. You place one less spoon then the amount of players in a pile within the circle of players either on the table or floor. One person serves as the dealer. They deal 4 cards face down to each player then they place the remaining cards on the table face down. The dealer with pick up one card from the pile and continue to pass the cards around the table until one person has 4 of the same numbers. Once that person has all four matching cards they grab a spoon and everybody else goes after the spoons until there are no more. The person left spoonless takes a shot.
Game Variation: You can either remove the player that didn’t get a spoon that round with a spoon so there is always one less spoon than the amount of players or you can remove a spoon each round and have more people taking shots.
What You Need: Taboo Game
Amount of Players: 4+
How You Play: You play taboo the regular way–see taboo instructions on how to play actual game–however after everyone on each team goes, the team with the least amount of points takes a shot.
Amount of Players: 4+
How You Play:
Step 1: Everyone sits in a circle and you count in sequential order the numbers up beginning with the number one. You count until you get to 21.
Step 2: The person that lands on 21 makes a rule for any number in the game up to 21 (ie. for number 3 you raise your hand)
Step 3: The person that made the rule restarts the game, you continue to say the numbers with the new rule added until you reach 21 and you repeat step 2. You keep repeating step 2 and 3 unless someone fails to do the rule that corresponds with the number, if they don’t do the rule they take a shot and restart the numbers.
The goal is to get to have 21 rules, however that’s nearly impossible before multiple people are intoxicated.

Step 3: With one hand, they flick the cup to flip it upside down on the table.
Step 4: Once the cup is face down the next person goes. The team to have all cups flipped upside down wins.

However if the player says either a movie or actor that you feel
