Fashion and philanthropy merge thanks to Gucci’s new “Chime for Change” campaign.
Salma Hayek, whose husband Francois Pinault is the owner of the Gucci brand’s parent company PPR group, has tapped A-list ladies to raise awareness about the project. According to its Facebook page, “Chime for Change” will support projects for women and girls through powerful stories about inspirational females, including Beyoncé.
“I have always felt strongly about equal opportunity for women,” the “Run The World” singer recently told Vogue UK. “Girls have to be taught from early on that they are strong and capable of being anything they want to be. It’s up to us to change the statistics for women around the world. I’m honored to be in the company of women who live fearlessly and set an example for the next generation of young ladies.”
Empowerment through health, education and justice is the overall goal for other advisory board members, including Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts and Jada Pinkett Smith.
Over the weekend (Mar. 2), the premiere campaign video hit the ‘net. Joined by Gucci creative director Frida Gianinni and Mrs. Knowles-Carter, Salma urges men and women to join the fight for women’s rights across the globe. It is also rumored that future videos will include new music from King Bey.
