Admit it, when you first heard Beyonce’s new album you were pleasantly surprised to see her flaunt her freak flag so freely. Once the initial shock wore off, you couldn’t get enough of her untethered sexuality because, unlike Rihanna (no shade, Rih Rih!), Yoncé has demonstrated a more muted take on sexing her man. While the album may not appeal to conservative, pearl-clutchers, the rest of us are insatiable for all the goodies she’s offering up. Her range in sexual exploration—and love of her body and man—is what still keeps this project on repeat.
In part 4 of her self-titled album documentary, “Liberation,” Bey explains why she celebrates her body on this project. “I was very aware of the fact that I was showing my body—I was 195 pounds when I gave birth. I lost 65 pounds. I worked crazily to get my body back. I wanted to show my body.” The new mommy proudly lets her fans know, “I wanted to show that you can have a child and you can work hard and you can get your body back.”
She also revealed why she chose to be so provocative this time around. “I don’t have any shame about being sexual. I’m not embarrassed about it. And I don’t feel like I have to protect that side of me.” She also addresses many of the mysteries surrounding her video/song ‘Partition’. “I was so embarrassed after I recorded the song because I’m just talking so much shit. I was so scared to play it for my husband, I still haven’t played it for my mom.”
We’re happy to see this side of Mrs. Carter. The reigning queen is a well-rounded and full-figured women, who isn’t afraid to show it. We salute her, again!
