Beyoncé may not have a point to prove, but the pop superstar decided to re-sing the National Anthem today (Jan. 31) for a room full of critics and journos, after hefty backlash of her Inauguration Day performance. Dressed in an cream-colored dress, she walked to the podium and requested the audience to please stand.
“Does anybody have any questions?”
Lip-sync-gate sprang into full-swing moments after President Obama’s inauguration, but Blue Ivy‘s mom laid low, only sending subliminal shots through the interwebs. Belting out the “Star Spangled Banner” as an intro to a 15-minute press conference was the perfect “eff you” to the naysayers. Nothing less than a perfectionist and ripping the game for 16 years, she stated, “I work until my feet bleed and I always sing live.” A point well proven through this Super Bowl rehearsal vid.
Later, once the questions were fired, she admitted to singing against a “backing track” on Inauguration Day since rehearsals for the Super Bowl halftime show conflicted with practicing with the orchestra. — Additional reporting by Terry Carter
