The 57th Grammy Awards are set to air this Sunday with a roster full of A-list performers. Of those set to take the stage, Common and John Legend will be performing their Oscar winning song “Glory” and will be introduced by none other than Queen Bey herself.
Though in the film and on the Selma soundtrack, the song is sung by Ledisi (who plays Mahalia Jackson), Common told Rolling Stone he is excited that Bey will be taking stage with him and Legend. “We’re getting an introduction from the great Beyoncé,” he said. “That’s a whole other level, to have her singing ‘Precious Lord.’ I’m excited.”
This will be Common’s first time performing at the Grammy’s, even though he’s won two in the past. He’s noticeably excited for the opportunity to bring the issues of police brutality and civil injustice to the Grammy stage. “This is what I live for,” he said, “to be able to speak up and say things that can impact people’s lives, and things that can be inspiring to human beings.”
