Despite the recent controversy that Cardi B found herself embroiled in over the weekend, nothing seems to be able to stop her bag.
The rap star and new mom recently revealed that designer Tom Ford named a lipstick shade after her for his brand’s Boys & Girls Collection, and the shade sold out in just 24 hours.
The shade “Cardi” is a cobalt blue color with shimmer, and it was unveiled backstage during his runway show last week at New York Fashion Week.
“Thank you so much @tomford and @tomfordbeauty!!!” wrote the “I Like It” rapper. “So excited for this and what’s to come!!” As quickly as Bardi thanked Mr. Ford for the very special tribute on Instagram, she also apologized to fans, saying that there were no more “Cardi” tubes available.
This exciting news comes on the heels of a high-profile altercation between Cardi and fellow New York femcee Nicki Minaj.
At the Harper’s Bazaar Icons event at the Plaza Hotel on Friday (Sept. 7), Cardi reportedly hurled a shoe at Minaj and her entourage, and alleged at the event and on Instagram that Nicki spoke harshly about her parenting skills. On Minaj’s Beats1 show Queen Radio, she said that she would never speak about someone else’s child, and said that Cardi built a career off of “sympathy” and “payola.”
