Giving a letter of resignation just wouldn’t do for this Alaska reporter.
During a live broadcast, former KTVA reporter Charlo Greene shocked viewers when she quit on air and walked off the set. At the end of a news package about medical marijuana and its appearance on the November elections as part of the Ballot 2 measure she said:
“Now everything you’ve heard is why I, the actual owner of the Alaska Cannabis Club, will be dedicating all of my energy toward fighting for freedom and fairness, which begins with legalizing marijuana here in Alaska,” she explained. “And as for this job, well, not that I have a choice but, fuck it, I quit.”
Her co-workers were obviously caught off guard, as one anchor struggled to hide her shock and continue with the broadcast. The Alaska Dispatch News talked to Greene about her farewell message and she said she wanted to bring awareness to the issue of medical marijuana.
“Ballot Measure 2 is a way to make medical marijuana real … most patients didn’t know the state didn’t set up the framework to get patients their medicine,” she said.
