Cocoa Brown is the funny woman that implements her comedic relief to Tyler Perry’s new film Single Mom’s Club, which hits theatres this weekend (March 14). In the film, Cocoa plays mother of five, Lytia, who gets inducted into a clique of fly single mothers while learning some vital life lessons. Like her character, Cocoa has learned some of her own lessons on the journey to success.
Keep reading to see what heartbreak, success and the man himself–Tyler Perry–have taught her.
Lessons learned from Failure
I try not to take failure too personally and give myself credit when it is deserved. Don’t be too hard on yourself– it is okay to mess up sometimes.
Lessons learned from Success
Success is a journey, not a destination and the journey never ends. You can always aim for better.
Lessons learned from Heartbreak
Never take heartbreak too personally. After getting my heart broken, I had to look to myself to heal and look in that mirror because in the end, I have to choose to love this person– me.
Lessons learned from an Ex
Never settle and if it’s not right, leave before the friendship is destroyed. Also, we have to evenly yoke and be on the same page for it to work. Oh, and forgiveness plays a huge role.
Lessons learned from being a mother
I learned the true meaning of unconditional love and I am seeing things in a new way. I am looking at things I’ve seen a thousand times through his eyes.
Lessons learned from high school
Don’t be a fly on the wall. Speak up and don’t be afraid to shine.
Lessons learned from Tyler Perry
I learned the art of multitasking from Tyler and how to treat your team with love and respect. Tyler Perry is amazing and his work ethic is impeccable.
Lessons learned from comedy
Comedy is not only my therapy, but is also a therapy to others and my fans are also the best therapist for me.
Lessons Lytia learned from The Single Mom’s Club
Lytia learns to trust and love again in the film; and she learns that when it comes to motherhood, always do the best you can.
