Common is the man we’d all love to call our own. Not only is he intelligent, talented, and easy on the eyes, but not many women who’ve actually managed to snap him, can say they gave him up—at least not voluntarily. While we collectively lust for the curiously uncommon rapper, few women have been-there-done-that. And then there are the two who got a way.
Stopping by the Breakfast Club to promote his brand new album, Nobody’s Business, the hosts made him take a walk down his love memory lane, where he revealed adding a “Mrs.” to his life may not be in his cards.
“I don’t know if I’m marriage material—I do like relationships but a lot of times I been in relationships, I don’t make my best albums. I would have to find the right relationship. A woman that understands the time you have to give to your work. It’s not like I’m only doing music, I’m working to do other things.”
But the Chi-town star didn’t always feel this way. He admitted to contemplating putting a ring on two of his exes—Erykah Badu or Serena Williams.“Serena and Erkyah was the most serious relationships that I had as an adult. Both of those women I could’ve married.” Since then, he’s remained focus on his craft.
And if you’re #team to either one of his past passions, hoping they get back together, it may be time to give up on that dream because he also says he won’t be rekindling any old flames: “It’s like once I’s experience that person its like man, sometimes life goes on. I can’t say I never would go back but and after its one of those things, its like, ‘I have to move forward.‘”
We’re sure Serena is special, but Erykah Badu has the Kryptonite box that he’s willing to admit to anyone who’s bold enough to ask. “The hood knows what it is. Erkyah got something with her, she got something special.” But surprisingly enough, the girl that would probably get the approval from his mother first is neither athlete nor singer. When asked who his mother loved the most, the honors went Baby Boy’s Yvette, “My mother loved Taraji [P. Henson].”
