In today’s strange news, Michigan police officer Bernadette Najor has been re-hired after having been fired for cutting the hair weave off of a detained woman Charda Gregory.
In the 2013 incident, Gregory was arrested for trashing a hotel room and when she got to the Warren Jail booking center, she was being docile and uncooperative. That led to the altercation between her and Officer Najor and video footage shows Najor repeatedly punching Gregory, then proceeding to cut out her weave.
After being written up for the incident, Najor rationalized her behavior by saying that she had been told to remove anything that was not permanently attached, and that was why she chose to cut the woman’s hair.
An arbitrator ruled Najor to be reinstated to her position, much to the dismay of the Warren Police Department. In addition, all charges against Gregory were dropped and she was awarded a $75,000 settlement.
