Another week another social media fail takes over Hollywood. Bill Cosby and his team tried to lighten his very serious situation through #CosbyMeme.
The actor’s rape accusations nearly 20 years ago have resurfaced after stand-up comic Hannibal Buress went on a rant about Cosby. “He gets on TV, ‘Pull your pants up, black people. I was on TV in the ’80s. I can talk down to you because I had a successful sitcom,” Buress says before calling the comedian a rapist. “Yeah, but you raped women, Bill Cosby, so turn the crazy down a couple notches.”
And ever since Hannibal’s comedy set went viral, Cosby has been laying low. Well in efforts to remind the world about the jello-loving, family man, the grew to love, his team went to Twitter. Using his account, someone tweeted (“Go ahead. Meme me!”) with link encouraging users to generate memes inspired by the actor.
Well ask and you shall receive. Taking stabs at his recent resurfaced allegations of rape, there wasn’t a happy meme insight, just further reminders to his fans what Cosby hoped many would forget.
