Celebrity hairstylist Ursula Stephen spills the details of how to maintain your curls on the go with Suave products.
Heat, humidity and the elements can have some serious effects on our tresses, resulting in frizz, excess thickness and an overall stressful time. Curly-haired women have all been there and know the feeling of preparing for a vacation, but worrying if your hair will hold up.
Celebrity hairstylist Ursula Stephen, who has worked with superstars like Rihanna and Zendaya, is spilling the tea on how to maintain the mane while battling summer hair triggers, all while using products from Suave Professionals.
Read on to see what Stephen recommends most to ensure your curls stay refreshed and hydrated.
1. Refresh Your Curls
“For someone wanting to refresh their curls while traveling, the trick is to mix your favorite conditioner likeSuave Professionals Avocado + Olive Oil Smoothing Conditioner with water in a spray bottle. I find this is a simple and efficient way to create your own ‘leave-in spray’ to providing the needed moisture to reactive your curls.”

2. Say ‘No’ To Heat Damage
“To keep hair protected from sun damage which is equivalent to heat damage, use a heat protectant throughout the day if you’re lying in the sun. Reapply often like you would do sunscreen.”

3. Master The ‘Wash & Go’
“Be sure to apply product while the hair is still soaking wet. I usually mix in about three different products, what we like to call ‘cocktailing.’ I use the Suave Professionals Coconut Oil Infusion Damage Repair Conditioner, which is infused with pure coconut oil, a natural moisturizer and delivers lightweight moisture without weighing hair down, Avocado + Olive Oil Smoothing Conditioner which I find particularly helpful given that the avocado and olive oil duo is known for their hydration, protection, and frizz fighting benefits, and add a dollop of Suave Professionals Captivating Curls Whipped Cream Mousse.”
“This mousse is one of my favorites as it is alcohol-free and its anti-frizz complex is designed to help define and hold natural curl patterns without having to use any hot tools. Be sure to squeeze the excess product out and allow hair to dry naturally. Try not to touch the hair too much to avoid causing frizz.”

4. Travel-Size Containers Are Your Best Friends
“If you want to maintain your healthy hair regimen while traveling, find your favorite products in travel size or condense your favorite products into travel size. If not, you can also buy reusable travel size containers that can store enough product that will last you the entire trip.”

5. Always Protect Your Hair
“Always travel with your own satin pillowcase or satin scarf. Silk retains moisture and helps fight frizz during those high humidity days. For added frizz control use the on-the-go trick of mixing your favorite conditioner like Suave Professionals Almond and Shea Butter Conditioner with water in a spray bottle and spritz as needed.”
