Actress Danai Gurira flaunts her enviable physique on the latest cover of Women’s Health. The Walking Dead star is featured posing in a yellow one-piece bodysuit. Her issue will hit newsstands July 26.
A former swimmer, track runner and field hockey player, fitness and health is extremely important to the Black Panther actress, who details her typical workout in her cover story. She trains four times a week with her trainer AJ Fisher, and a typical workout includes circuit training and Pilates-inspired moves. Additionally, every workout session with Fisher includes glute work. The trainer explains that our gluten are the biggest muscle in the body and “key for posture and balance.”
“Fisher’s workouts also focus on paired muscle training—obliques and inner thighs, for example—“so you’re training your body to work together as a unit.,” writes Women’s Health.
Gurira also believes that physical power is empowering for women in the emotional and mental sense.
“As women, we’re not always encouraged to find the fullest extent of our physical power,” she tells the mag. “There’s something so exciting about tapping into that part of ourselves…The struggles of women and girls is something that I’m very passionate about. I have to do what I can in the world. We all have to do what we can.”
