Nothing ruins a cute pair of shorts like leg stubble. It represents everything you never want to see or feel on a warm Spring day. If you’re tired of using razors and shaving cream, it’s time to venture out. Wax, melt or laser your hair off at home with these simple techniques.
1. Epilator
Hair removal is rarely painless and the epilator is no exception. Using an epilator is like using multiple tweezers at once. Run the handheld machine along your legs to pull the hair from the roots. Expect smooth stubble-free legs for about a week, depending on your hair growth.
Make your own chemical-free wax at home with three simple ingredients.
Ingredients:
2 c Sugar
1/4 c Lemon Juice
1/4 c Water
How to:
1. Combine all ingredients in a pot over medium heat. Let the mixture thicken, stirring constantly for 30-40 minutes.
2. Let the mixture cool down significantly and test the mixture before applying it to the legs.
3. Slather the warm wax onto legs with a wooden stick (e.g. popsicle stick) and press a cotton or cloth strip into the wax. Pull the strip in the opposite direction of hair growth.
4. Re-use leftover wax by storing it in an airtight container. Stir in a teaspoon of water and pop the wax in the microwave to easily reheat it.
Perhaps the easiest alternative to shaving is hair removal cream. Depilatory creams painlessly melt the hair above the surface leaving a smooth finish. But be advised: depilatories are notorious for an obnoxious odor. Try Sally Hansen’s Brush-On-In-Shower cream to remove hair with no fuss and odor.
Laser hair removal used to be an expensive treatment only performed by professionals in a dermatologists office. Now you can achieve permanent hair loss at home with Tria’s Hair Removal Laser 4X.
