Latina actress Eva Mendes is taking a break from the big screen and trying her hand at designing. WWD reports the star has inked a clothing and accessory line deal with New York & Co.
What seemed like a surprise was actually a longtime process picked by the clothing brand’s customers.
“When we asked our customers to name the celebrity they aspired to be, [Eva’s] name came up again and again,” said Greg Scott, chief executive officer of New York & Co. “Based on that, we went out and pursued her. It was a very long courtship.”
The line will consist mostly of dresses and accessories, from day-to-dinner, and cocktail and evening categories. The collection will also be a bit pricier than the rest of the retailer’s merchandise, due to expensive fabric, but should totally be worth it.
“I have a ton of ideas, but it’s a bit early to discuss them, [The project] is taking up all my time, but in the best way possible,” she said. “Everything I see is a possible design.”
