It’s time to bust out the heavier clothes. Sweater weather has arrived!
For some, this may conjure up images of frumpy fashion flops or, for others, this may bring excitement. Either way, you don’t want to look too chunky or bulky by choosing the wrong sweater for your body.
While it’s tempting to wear the latest trends, it doesn’t make sense to do so if it’s not right for your body type. Follow these simple tips to find the best sweater style for you.–Vicki Valery
Turtleneck
If you want to explore your fashion sense more, try these. This type of sweater can compliment just about any body type.
If you have a shorter neck, it can make your neck area look more elegant and elongated. If you are carrying a few extra pounds, this type will “hide” your winter weight gain with style.
Cardigan
The cardigan is in!
Longer lengths with tie front closures can be a cozy. However, if you are thicker in the waist, you should avoid this type of design that draws attention to your midsection.
Cable Knit
Cable knit sweaters are very bulky in appearance but comfortable all the same. The weave of this vertical design will make you appear slim.
Warning: Those with thick waists should stay away from vertical cables that have a band around the bottom.
Cowl Neck
This is similar to a turtleneck, but a looser around the neck. The drape of the sweater draws attention to your face and straightens the appearance of your shoulders.
These sweaters are also very versatile, as they can be dressed up with a skirt or dressed down with jeans. Anyway you wear it, cowl necks are for every body type.
Wrap Sweater
These can be similar to cardigans, but are fuller and more bulky as they actually ‘wrap’ around your body more than once.
Believe it or not, if you are plus-sized, this can look great on you. Just layer a camisole underneath and wear them over slim-fitting jeans.
