Gabourey Sidibe is putting in work. The Empire actress is extending the wit we’ve grown to love on her Twitter account and is publishing her first memoir. In a statement released by publisher, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, the untitled literary work from Sidibe is scheduled for release sometime in 2017. Yes, we have to wait a while.
Senior Executive Editor, Deanne Urmy said, “Moving from Bed-Stuy to Senegal to Cannes, as Gabby has done in a still-short lifetime, has helped produce a fierce, wise way of being in the world impossible not to admire. ‘Funny’ doesn’t begin to capture just how irreverent and complex Gabby’s stories are.” And in true Gabourey fashion, the Golden Globe-Nominee released a statement on her new venture that’ll include her experiences with depression and her journey to Hollywood.

“I’ve been writing since I was a child and have always had so many stories to tell that are too long, shady, and impolite to share in interviews,” Sidibe said. “It brings me much joy to add Published Writer to my resume of Actor and part-time Foot Model.”
No word on the exact release date but Gabby’s TV appearances and tweets will suffice for now.
