The results are in! This morning (December 12) the 2014 Golden Globe Awards Nominations were announced, and the results may surprise you. American Hustle, starring Hunger Games’ Jennifer Lawrence and her Silver Linings’ Playbook costar, Bradley Cooper, swept up in nominations. Also extremely successful was the drama 12 Years A Slave. Surprisingly however, Oprah Winfrey and her acclaimed film, The Butler, were conspicuously absent from the list of nominees. 1. Best Drama TV Series. The nominees of this category include the wildly popular and sometimes controversial Breaking Bad; historical drama Downton Abbey; The Good Wife; House of Cards; and Masters of Sex.

2. Best Actor in a Comedy. And the nominations go to…Christian Bale, for the film American Hustle; Bruce Dern, in Nebraska; Leonardo DiCaprio, in his new film (opening Christmas) The Wolf of Wall Street; Oscar Isaac, in Inside Llewyn Davis; and Joaquin Phoenix, starring in Her.

3. Best Actress in a Comedy. These ladies know a thing or two about comedy. Those nominated are Amy Adams for her role in American Hustle; Julie Delpy in Before Midnight; Greta Gerwig for Frances Ha; Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Enough Said; and the illustrious Meryl Streep for August: Osage County.

4. Best Actor in a Drama. The nominations for best actor in a drama go to Chiwetel Ejiofor in 12 Years A Slave; Idris Elba, starring in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom; Tom Hanks, for Captain Phillips; Matthew McConaughey for his role in Dallas Buyers Club; and Robert Redford, for All Is Lost
