Beyoncé blonde-haired bestie Gwyneth Paltrow brightens the cover of Harper’s Bazaar this May. The Iron Man actress–since being linked to King B and her hubby Jay–has been intermixed in the hip-hop community. Despite her knowledge of rap lyrics and penchant for hanging with music royalty, she caught flack for tweeting the N-word in Paris. Naturally, as veteran celebs do, she brushed her shoulders off.
In the interview with the fashion glossy, the maternal goddess says she learned that life lesson from Hov himself. “I don’t hold on to fear as much as I used to, because I’ve learned a lot about genuinely not caring what strangers think about me,” she says. “It’s very liberating. It’s very empowering, and I’ve learned a lot of that from Jay-Shawn Carter-Z, because his approach to life is very internal. It’s a very good lesson to learn.”
Other parts of her chat touch on Blue Ivy’s parents, reminding readers that Casa de Martin (Paltrow is married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin) has seen the Carters more often than not. “He’s obsessed with hip-hop,” Gwyn says of her 7-year-old son Moses, “and wanted a chain like his Uncle Jay.”
She goes on to talk girl power in her inner circle of friends.
“I think that women, especially women in my job, come to me because they know I’m very loving and nonjudgmental and I’m not competitive, and I’ve been through a lot,” she says. “I love it, and I feel that I have the most incredible women friends, some who are super famous, some who I’ve had since I was four years old.”
