Jhene Aiko endured quite of bit of pain for her new gorgeous dragon tattoo, but fans are hung up on her choice to cover up some of her signature pieces like the moon phases and a portrait of Big Sean. Don’t fret, the “Trip” singer has the answers.
On Thursday (Nov. 15), the singer was seen out and about with her new ink done by longtime collaborator Miryam Lupini. When outlets like The Shade Room questioned why the portrait of her beau Big Sean was covered, the singer pointed out the obvious.
“Don’t let this distract you from the fact that I also covered my Buddha and Bible verse… but still love and respect Buddha AND Jesus lol. have a good day, kids,” she commented.
Back in May 2018, the singer-songwriter shared a now-deleted post on Instagram about her exciting new tattoo journey, which included a dragon floating through the galaxy. The peanut gallery quickly mourned, believing her relationship with the rapper had ended. They also unfollowed each other on the platform, which in 2018, means fifty-eleven bad things.
“She’s clearly tattooing my back,” she wrote at the time. “I’m actually covering my moon phases and the rising sun on my back. And sometimes you don’t want to follow ur boyfriend/girlfriend on social media.. if it weren’t for u crazy blogs and ur speculation I would follow and unfollow him twice a day, everyday… [it’s] not that serious… I see him enough in real life and on my arm.”
Because men don’t run her spiritual journey, the singer hopped on Twitter to clarify the meaning behind her new ink.
