It’s not whats on the outside for supermodel Joan Smalls, but the inside too. Striking one of her fiercest poses Self Magazine’s October 2014 covergirl proves to be a natural in front of the camera. Not like we question it

On debunking the myth of the model lifestyle as she doesn’t drink (alcohol or caffeine) and is in bed most nights by 10:30:
“I want to last in my career, and that relies on the way my body performs,” she says. “So I need to take care of it.”
On battling Scoliosis at the age 14 and taking up boxing:
“The lower half of my spine was inside out. I started crying. I couldn’t believe that was inside my body. I’m not going to use this as a handicap. I’m going to push myself harder.”
On being human and loving sweets like us all:
“I don’t want to be on such a strict diet that I don’t have fun. So if I eat sweets, I’ll just put in more of an effort when I go to the gym.”
