You know your rumored relationship has taken on celestial heights once your every move is documented in Beyoncé and Blue Ivy-like fashion. Everywhere they turn up, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are adding more fuel to a fire that has either been rekindled or continues to be flaming hot. While confessions of love over a Hit-Boy-produced beat à la “Theraflu” are more shocking than romantic, who’s to say it didn’t throw the chocolate-loving Kardashian sister into a thirsty stupor? Here are three reasons why the KimYe connection is nothing but bad news.
1. “Welcome To Heartbreak”
Last time ‘Ye was mending a broken heart, 808s & Heartbreak was born, an experimental musical production that still gets praise today. Then there were the attention-grabbing shots on Chris Brown’s “Deuces (Remix)” and the release of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy that established his artistic genius in angst. Eventually the Chi-town rapper learned better than to run his mouth after Jay told him not to. Still, feelings for his past beaus, especially the soon-to-be-wed Amber Rose, seeped into his verses every once and a while. As golden as his throne was, Yeezy was a lonely king.
Flip to Kim who has been in and out of very public relationships for all of the world to see on E! After a short-lived marriage to New Jersey Net Kris Humphries and many sporadic hook-ups with athletes prior, it’s safe to say that the Armenian romantic may be in love with the idea of loving Kanye but is not emotionally ready to handle actually doing it. The ex-relationship baggage these two carry would be enough to land the flight before it has even taken off.
2. “Who Gon Stop Me”
Kanye West is a man of his passions who was certainly on the ascent post-breakup. Transforming his inner chaos into well-received works of audible art, fans–both old and new–were flocking to venues just to watch the throne live. It allowed him to spawn intellectual Twitter rants and a clothing line inspired by his mother, Donda West. It seemed the award show-stopping, egotistical West had channeled his strong emotions into their proper place.
Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian has always been a proud businesswoman who touts her brand on the regular. From fragrances to a chain of nationwide Dash stores to a Sears’ clothing line to books, there is no contractual end to her entrepreneurial endeavors. Add a relationship into their already hectic schedules, and it could take away from their success. After all it was the lack thereof that had them winning in the first place.
3. “Heard ‘Em Say”
No need for the falsetto-pitched Adam Levine to serenade us with the fact that nothing’s ever promised tomorrow today. As paparazzi favorites and frequent blog headliners, it’s hard to catch a break from the spotlight that both Kanye and Kim seem to illuminate on a daily basis. The two are very familiar with public romance but won’t be equipped for coupledom of this magnitude. Beyoncé and Jay-Z have mastered the art of controlling the media by letting select details of their personal lives leak out on their own terms (i.e. Baby Blue’s first photos and Beyoncé’s Tumblr of personal snapshots), whereas the double K’s have had their good, their bad and ugly sprawled all over accessible outlets…for years. Their lifestyles have been molded in such a way that they are used to immediate satisfaction, whether on a personal or professional level. They claim to have been friends for years, so why sacrifice the permanence of a platonic partnership? Seeking comfort in one another during a tumultuous time may be a temporary solution to their individual and seemingly ongoing problem: coping with how to be alone, a privilege neither gets. Once they have conquered solitude, then maybe they can work on being together.
