Between her role as Olivia Pope on Shonda Rhimes’ smash Scandal and Bromhilda in Tarantino’s polarizing Django Unchained, Washington–who’s currently promoting her latest role in Tyler Perry’s rom-com Peeples–has a piping hot career…and this cover girl knows it. “I’m the luckiest broad in Hollywood now,” she told the mag. “To be the lead actor on ‘Scandal’ and to be in the highest-earning Tarantino movie — I don’t get to ask for more.”
Well, her fans do. Every Thursday, nail-biting Scandal watchers are left wanting more of the PR maven, especially glimpses of her designers suits and love sessions with Fitz. She admits to ELLE that, as a young girl, she never saw this coming, “I was not that girl. I was a kooky theater kid, silly and goofy and academic.”
So what would Kerry Washington be if she weren’t Kerry Washington? “I imagined I’d be a clinical psychologist, with a focus on how performance shapes identity,” she says. “I’d figure out ways to use role-playing in the healing of people.”
For now, she’ll just have to accept Dior, Marc Jacobs, Balmain, Tom Ford as co-workers and continue to wow us on red carpets. Shoot. We love this Kerry.
