Keyshia Cole used social media to her advantage this week when she announced she was having a child. As it turns out, the “announcement” was just a lesson on body shaming.
The singer revealed her decision to troll fans Friday (July 6) after she posted a photo rocking popular brand Fashionnova. Going the silly route, the “Incapable” singer dropped the hashtag, “#PreggoInMyFashionnovaFit.” Fans and media outlets quickly picked up the news but the excitement didn’t last long as Cole shared it was all a joke.
“I kinda apologize for trolling yesterday, telling y’all I was preggo but y’all need to stop body shaming me and saying I’m pregnant every other day!” she captioned her next post. “Seriously, it hurts my feelings.”
The singer’s page is private but it’s not hard to believe that fans have critiqued the singer on her weight. Other artists like Brandy and Nicki Minaj have also been subjected to the same assumptions.
Cole shares an 8-year-old with former Cleveland Cavaliers guard Daniel “Boobie” Gibson. She’s currently dating rapper Niko Khlae.
