Over the years, we’ve come to find that the term “reality TV” should be used very loosely. While current shows continue to defend themselves against claims of fictional storylines, former TV stars like Kristin Cavallari are finally giving us the real deal.
“When I decided to join The Hills, I knew exactly what I was getting into, I knew exactly the character they wanted me to be, so I said, ‘Listen, I’m game. What do you want me to do?'”
The shoe designer admits to faking relationships and conflicts for TV ratings as well as allowing the TV network to manipulate her every move in front of the camera.
“Laguna Beach, they really just manipulated situations and put us in situations that we normally wouldn’t have been in, or we’d have to film something that maybe happened a month ago or hasn’t happened yet—stuff like that,” she confessed. In fact, Cavallari faked a relationship with Brody Jenner on The Hills despite the fact that he was still dating someone else.
“They had us ‘dating’ for a few episodes. They pretended that him and Jayde broke up and I was dating Brody, and Jayde and I got into a huge fight because she saw us in a club. It wasn’t real at all. They were together the entire time.”
