Women don’t usually consider going to the gynecologist as the highlight of their day. With all the waiting, uncomfortable conversations and invasion of your lady parts, visiting your gyno can be… awkward. Despite the un-easy feeling that comes with the check-up, making an appointment with your gynecologist is something that every woman should do at least once a year. Seeing as you and your doctor will be having a very personal relationship why not make your visit a little more comfortable? Here are some tips to make your visit to the gyno less awkward.

Know who you prefer.
Many women switch their OB-GYN for reasons such as the doctor’s personality, the professionalism of the office and the doctor’s gender. Be sure to shop around for different doctors in your area so you can find the one you are most comfortable with.
Come with questions.
Knowing what you want to talk to your gynecologist about can put you at ease. Throughout the year, try and jot down or type up questions that you come up with, and know there are no bad questions.
Let them know what goes down in the bedroom.
Talking with you gyno is no time to be shy or embarrassed! Holding back information about your sex life is not only dangerous but it hinders forming trust between you and your doctor. Whether you’re wild, mild or light, you’ve got to let them know.
Be honest …without being rude.
A lot of OB-GYN’s think talking while they are down there makes things a little less awkward but that’s not the case for all women. Be honest with your doctor about what you like and dislike but be sure to be polite about it. Doctors have feelings too.
Bring up the tough stuff first.
It may sound a little backwards but if you handle all the uncomfortable questions at the beginning of your appointment, you won’t have the build up and anxiety you get when you wait ’til the end.
