This week, Google released a year-in-review video capturing 2013’s highs and lows in culture, international events, and major tragedies. The video is a dramatic tear-jerker not only because of its poignant images and footage, but also because of the powerful song used as the soundtrack for this emotional montage: “Feels Like Coming Home” by newcomer on the music scene, Jetta. Her song is personal and emotional, providing the perfect musical backdrop for this artistic ode to 2013.
Not much is known yet about Jetta, but that’s likely to change if all of her songs are as beautifully wrought as “Feels Like Coming Home.” Her profile on the Republic Records website states that she was born in Liverpool, UK, lives in London and was once a backing vocalist for Cee-Lo. She counts Annie Lennox, The Police, and Lykki Li among her biggest influences, and says that her favorite word is “raw” because “lions roar.” We hope we hear more about Jetta in the future!
