The 37-year-old, who looks “to inspire” with her new gig, comes with an impressive resume as a 14-year professional sports veteran and two-time Team USA gold medalist.
According to The Bleacher Report, the Florida native is working as the training camp and preseason intern, coaching inside linebackers. Welter, who called the opportunity “surreal,” will work directly under Cardinals’ head coach Brian Arians.
And this isn’t the first history-making feat for the new coach. In February 2014, she was the first female to play a non-kicking position in a men’s professional league in the Champions Indoor Football League. She led the Dallas Diamonds to four Women’s Football Alliance championships as a linebacker.
You go girl!
