If Beyonce’s Tumblr and Instagram posts are any indication, being married to Jay Z is a pretty sweet deal. For years, the media mogul has been spotlighted as a doting hubby, caring father and expert businessman. In fact, it’s quite rare to hear media outlets complain about the multiplatinum star.
The New York Post, known for its controversial content, is one of the first to speak against Mr. Carter. One of its writers criticized the rapper for allowing his wife to put her sexuality on display for other men to see at this Sunday’s Grammy Awards.
What do you call a man who stands there smiling and singing as his scantily clad wife straddles a chair and shakes her rear end for other men’s titillation?…Well, how about I just call him a poor excuse for a husband.”
“It wasn’t surprising to see Jay Z, looking pleased at his wife’s hyper-sexualized exhibition on stage. After all, he’s made a living singing lyrics that call women ‘bitches’ and ‘hos,’ so we shouldn’t be surprised that he objectified his own wife on stage,” they write.
While some critics may say their “Drunk In Love” performance was a combination of “stage personas,” the Post argues that it is a contradiction of the family life they display off stage.
“Well, for one thing, the happy couple have invited audiences to admire their adorable family, with dad even joking about his daughter’s sippy cups when he accepted an award on Sunday. So they’re suggesting to audiences that this kind of public sexual behavior is compatible with a loving modern marriage.”
