Mentioning it being a huge mistake, the media maven says, “The idea of creating a network was something that I wanted to do. Had I known that it was this difficult, I might have done something else.”
Since its inception in last year–with most of the negative press in recent days–Lady O’s business has taken some major hits. First, 150 staffers were laid off, and following that, Rosie O’Donnell‘s self-titled spot was clipped from the network’s line-up. However, the Discovery-Harpo offspring has seen brighter days with Oprah’s Next Chapter, a series that highlights Oprah’s strong points–exclusive interviews with headline celebs.
Looking toward the future, she remains hopeful: “I thought that last week with all the negative press. You know, it’s just press.” She adds, “Just because you fail doesn’t make you a failure. When you know that in the core of yourself, you can keep trying or you can use whatever is happening in that moment to say, ‘Maybe I need to move in a new direction.'”
