October 1st marks the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Founded in 1985 by the American Cancer Society and AstraZeneca (maker of anti-breast cancer drugs), it is now the most popular yearly awareness campaign for women. As Vixens, it’s important that we keep our bodies in check and disease-free. Even if you haven’t been affected, there are still a bevy of ways to stay in the know and support the cause.

Make-Up/Jewelry
Senior Corporate Vice President of Estee Lauder, Evelyn Lauder, is responsible for the creation of the pink ribbon symbol. This year marks the company’s 19th year in the fight against breast cancer. Click here to see entire Estee Lauder Pink Ribbon collection, including a favorite of mine- the super cute jeweled pink ribbon pin, which only costs $12.50.
Clothing
E! News anchor, reality star and breast cancer survivor Guiliana Rancic is lending her help to women’s clothing brand LOFT and their ‘Live in Pink’ campaign. Vixens who like the brand’s business casual style can purchase nine ‘pink’ clothing items as well as Giuliana’s bold statement bracelet at loft.com.
Food
Komen for the Cure and Yoplait yogurt are teaming up to sponsor the annual Susan J. Komen Race For the Cure. From now until December, buy lots of Yoplait and redeem the pink lids, each of which donates 10 cents to the cause. You’re not only lending a hand, you’re getting healthy and maybe losing a couple of pounds in the process!
Jewelry
For Vixens like me, Michael Kors is a bit pricey at times. However, the Project Runway judge and designer has teamed up with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation for an awareness bracelet. The leather band has a simple design and can be worn with anything. The best part is that 100% of the proceeds go to the BCRF–and it’s only $20! Click here to get your hands on one.
School
Pentel is going in the “write” direction for breast cancer awareness. The pen company has designed a collection of pink writing instruments, including pens, pencils and study packs, to not only create a fantastic writing experience but to support a meaningful cause as well. A portion of the proceeds benefit the BCRF and can be found at pentel.com, staples.com oramazon.com.
