For a second we thought Rice took a vow of silence in the wake of his vicious elevator video, however with just a day since his life took another bad turn for the worse, Ray Rice breaks his silence, “I have to be strong for my wife.”
Yesterday Ray and Janay Rice’s Monday was far from what they expected after TMZ leaked the inside visual of their elevator fight which caused the Baltimore Ravens to cut him and the NFL to suspend him indefinitely. Now a day later, the disgraced athlete hopped on the phone with ESPN’s Josina Anderson after his violent incident that was a major game changer in the midst of his five year, $50 million career. “We have a lot of people praying for us and we’ll continue to support each other. I have to be there for [Janay] and my family right now and work through this.”
His interview came on the heels of his wife’s defense. This morning she took to her private Instagram to post a public service announcement. In it she expressed her negative feelings towards the media’s scrutiny over their family during this time.“To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret everyday is a horrible thing. To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his a.. off for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific. THIS IS OUR LIFE!”
While she’s upset over everything, her husband promises to be in “good spirits” as he has “to be there for [Janay] and my family right now and work through this,” he said.
The athlete then handed the phone to his wife who concluded the interview with the final statement, “I love my husband. I support him. I want people to respect our privacy in this family matter.”
