Yesterday (June 23) VIBE Magazine revealed their next cover guys and automatically set the internet ablaze. Many put their two cents—or complete timeline—into critiquing the three fellas chosen. Appropriately titled R&B’s Most Wanted (for more reasons than one) August Alsina, Mack Wilds, and Ed Sheeran were featured in two covers. One with them rocking colored ski mask and another of the tatted crooners revealing their lady-loved attributes. An ingenious cover of the music chart toppers with a splash of out of box thinking for inclusion of the British heart throb, the 20+ year old publication ultimately succeeded in part one of their July issue.
However 90s mindset took over from fans that believe the text and message was all wrong. Basically people living in the past and rejecting that R&B is constantly changing. Luckily, the mag’s in a lane of its own and is feeling the current presence this particular music is making before (and if) it makes its sexual return. For now the summer is theirs and if they continue to swoon the ladies with their diverse lyrics and audience base, our prediction will surpass the “hate.”
For those that are upset about the new paradigm in the music culture, press play to hear your salty mood anthem tracks.
