Addiction is a physically and mentally stimulating condition whose dangers run deep. It may start off as a casual and fun form of excitement, but when your “fun” starts to cause problems within your personal life will you know when to stop?
Addicted, based on best-selling novel by Zane, is a sexually driven, provocative and very suspenseful thriller about the dangers of sexual addiction. The film delves into the crude truth of Zoe Reyard’s (Sharon Leal) irresistable temptations as she pursues a secretive life despite her successful career as a businesswoman and marriage with her dream husband—played by Borris Kodjoe. Zoe finds herself putting it all on the line to fulfill the void that her sexual addiction fills when she meets two different men who knowingly engage in sexual acts with the married women. The film takes a turn when her sexual interests—both the artist (William Levy) and the bad boy (Tyson Beckford)—unexpectedly find themselves falling for her. Zoe then is faced with reality and her world starts to crumble as her addiction becomes more and more troublesome.
“Addicted is still an evergreen story because many women are dealing with a lot of situations where they don’t communicate with their mate, where they aren’t transparent about who they are, and it leads to difficulty in their relationship,” said Zane during an exclusive look at scenes of the film and Q&A with the cast on Friday night (Sept. 19) at the 2014 Urbanworld Film Festival. “Women are very sexual by nature and we tend to act as missionaries for men instead of telling them what we want and what we desire.”
