On Wednesday evening (March 28) at NYC’s Greenhouse, mentor organization Petals-N-Belles held its one-year anniversary. Hosted by 106 and Park‘s Rocsi Diaz, Event Chair and Essence magazine Editor-at-Large Emil Wilbekin and Co-Chair Bevy Smith, the event raised over $10K.
Guests included singers Chrisette Michele and Shontelle, Essence Editor-and-Chief Constance White and actress and TV personality Amanda Seales. The evening provided an opportunity for guests to hear directly from the young girls it serves about the organization and its continued growth and development. Founder Damali Elliott expressed her thoughts of the success that the organization has seen.
“It has been amazing to see our girls make small changes, just within this first year, that will make a huge impact on their future. We hold ourselves and each Petals-N-Belles mentee accountable to dream and plan BIG. We instill in our girls the idea that their future is as Limitless as their imagination, and through our programming and their own action, it will become boundless!”
