Sage Steele’s gorgeous curly locks are hard to miss, especially when she’s dishing out facts as host of NBA Countdown on ESPN and ABC. Now, the biracial sportscaster has joined forces with haircare company Mixed Chicks, which has already racked up co-signs from Halle Berry, Ciara and Tracee Ellis Ross.
When it comes to her curly hair, Steele reveals that it wasn’t always a hit in her profession. “There are so many people who have tried over the years to get me to change [my hair], and to get me to look more traditional as far as TV anchors are concerned,” she tells VIBE Vixen. “I fought it because number one: I’m lazy and I don’t like to blow dry stuff out, and number two: this is me and as I try to raise my kids to love who they are and what God gave them. It’s kind of hypocritical if I go around changing everything.”
Embracing her natural tresses in front of the camera has given all curly-haired girls life. Her secret weapon? Mixed Chicks leave-in conditioner.

“I’ve been using their products long before they called me to endorse ’cause you know, curly hair is curly hair,” she said. “If I had to have a choice between my leave-in conditioner and clean clothes, I would take the leave-in conditioner. It’s just a requirement in my life.”
