World famous model Selita Ebanks says she’s ready to hang up her Victoria’s Secret Angel wings for good. In an interview with New York Magazine’s The Cut, Ebanks revealed that even the big named VS models have to audition each year for a spot on the coveted show. Like many aspects of the cutthroat fashion industry, Victoria’s Secret models are expected to strut their stuff before landing a spot on the show.
Before announcing her unofficial retirement she shared her views on the process during the UNICEF Snowflake Ball earlier this week. Ebanks said, “you have to show up in your panties, and you have to walk and be pleasant and say hi to everyone and hope that you’ve still got it.”
Even though the 29-year-old bombshell has been featured in a plethora of fashion shows and magazine covers, she reveals that her chances to be in the VS show ride on how well she does in the audition. Who knew that supermodels aren’t exempt from the vigorous process of a seemingly rookie routine?
Ironically, Ebanks wasn’t featured in this year’s show to which she said, “I didn’t make it. Go figure,” saying it laughingly as she included, “I’ve done, what, five, six shows? I’ve experienced my V.S. days.”
Miss Ebanks seems as if she’s taking it in stride and isn’t resentful about her retirement from the show. It’s going to be exciting to see what the beauty will do in her down time as she’s never one to stop being fabulous.-– Jasmine Aspinall
