We have to admit, as entertaining as it is, we hope Twitter beefs stay in 2014. It wasn’t long ago that if you wanted to see some ‘ish go down, you would yell Worldstar as you proceeded to head to their site. Now throwing shade and starting virtual beef in 140 characters is the new way to go and this year proved Twitter and Instagram is where the drama’s at.
From Iggy Azalea (featuring T.I.) vs everyone, to the nasty words K. Michelle directed to Soulja Boy and Lil’ Kim, some of our favorite artists showed their pettiness and we sat behind our screens and shook our heads at it all.

Recently, Azalea Banks remixed Iggy’s name to Igloo Australia and has called the “Fancy” songstress a fake for years now. She also called T.I. a shoe-shining coon during a racially-fueled rant. However it was earlier this year when T.I. went off—via Instagram—after Banks bad-mouthed his wife, Tiny, that had us like, “damn.” T.I. left a lengthy diss, calling Banks a “musty-mouthed-thot-bot-bad-body-syphilis-lipped-rectum-vomit-unimportant-ugggggly-monstrosity-of-a-maggot,” after Azalea called Tiny “meth face.”
And yet they’re still going at it on their social mediums.
2. Iggy Azalea vs. Snoop Dogg
How similar are those photos? Iggy can’t take a joke and we formed that conclusion after a meme on Snoop Dogg’s Instagram account. The Aussie busted back with claims that Snoop used to send his bodyguards to ask her for pictures (secret fan-boy alert). Snoop played several more petty cards, uploading more memes and a disturbing rendition of White Chicks.
Meek felt a way when Wale didn’t (re)tweet his album release date along with their other Maybach Music label mates. The word “hater” was thrown out in the Twitterverse, with Wale keeping it cute and letting it be known he doesn’t need to take anyone’s shine.
Ever since Kimmy Cakes married the world’s most outspoken rapper, Mrs. Kardashian-West has become ballsy and bold on Twitter. In an interview with Latina magazine, Rob Kardashian’s ex and The Real co-host, Adrienne Bailon said her affiliation with the Kardashian family hurt her career. Forgetting all of the things she said about her own brother on national television, Kim jumps on Twitter and blasted Bailon.
“Funny how she says being with a Kardashian hurt her career yet the only reason she has this article is bc she is talking about a Kardashian,” Kim wrote. “So sad when people try to kick my brother when he is down #FamilyForever.” Adrienne clapped back in a subtle way on Instagram with a #GodBless and a ‘what makes you “famous” isn’t what you want to be “labeled” as, or known for. If anyone should understand that… It should be you’ caption. Oop.
5. K. Michelle vs. Soulja Boy
This really could’ve been prevented but K. Michelle flipped what was supposed to be a “compliment” and the rest is history. Soulja Boy said that if he could sleep with any cast member from the Love and Hip-Hop franchise, it would be K., but Miss Michelle wasn’t having it and in an interview with Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club slammed the rapper.
It was a battle of words with mentions of vaginal odors and net worths but K. Michelle finished Soulja Boy after tweeting, “Look @souljaboy u had a transgendered GF,u don’t know how I smell cause YOUVE never met me,u don’t know my net worth, period.Nite little Richard.” We’re going to blame Teyana Taylor and Rihanna for the need to point out net worths on Twitter after this one.
6. K. Michelle vs. Perez Hilton
K. Michelle just so happens to say what we’re all thinking. Earlier this year, she added her two cents on Iggy Azalea, tweeting, “How can you be from another country and rap like you’re from Memphis TN? But u don’t hear me though #offended.”
Azalea-stan and top s–t talker of the blogs, Perez Hilton changed K. Michelle’s hashtag to #jealous and what happened next was Hilton’s claims that Michelle couldn’t top the charts (which she did) and hate on Azalea’s musical success. In classic K. Michelle fashion, the R&B songstress goes from the jugular, “Now I’m going 2go heal sum hearts, u should do the same. P.S I like you better with the pink hair and ur 4 chins.” Ouch.
7. K. Michelle vs. Lil’ Kim
It started after K. Michelle called Nicki Minaj the “Queen of Rap” and told Lil’ Kim’s fans to kiss her ass, but it didn’t get ugly until another interview with The Breakfast Club this month. After the back and forth on God mother claims during Kim’s pregnancy, K. Michelle bashes the rapper’s plastic surgery calling her “Plastic Penny” and Lil’ Kim firing back with a long-winded caption on Instagram to shut it all down… with best wishes at the end, of course.
If there’s one thing Basketball Wives taught us, it’s that Evelyn Lozada is not to be messed with. Wendy Williams who will always be known for her messy mouth, turned her shade up a notch calling the newborn of Ev and fiancée Carl Crawford, a “cash register.” She threw in one congratulations during her “Hot Topics” segment, but it was her read of Evelyn’s lifestyle and tips on how to be a housewife that fired Lozada right up.
Evelyn pulled out all her guns and wanted Wendy to know something about her own man before ethering the talk show host with
#NowPutThatOnHotTopics. Not one to keep it cute, Evelyn tweeted, “Since u want me 2 open Dulce n LA. Maybe ur man can come 2 that store & purchase shoes 4 another woman like he did @ my Miami store. Bloop!” That shut Williams right up. Welp!
Almost anything Plies tweets is hilarity and shouldn’t be taken seriously, but Breezy didn’t get that memo when the rapper indirectly gave his two cents on the war of words instead of pictures between Chris and ex, Karrueche. Taking to Twitter, Plies said what we would have to agree with, “If U Tell A Female Business Just When U Get Mad U A Fuck N*gga,” and Chris took the bait, doing exactly what he said he wouldn’t do – give someone else some publicity, after spilling all of the tea and the actual cup on his relationship with Tran.
He’s since deleted the tweet, but nothing is ever erased from the Internet and Breezy was caught firing back at Plies’ career letting it be known, “If no one listens to your music anymore your career dead blood.” Shady boots.
Teach me how to troll! It all started on VIBE with Tyga calling Drake a fraud and Drizzy let his label mate have it ever since. From liking a ton of Blac Chyna’s photos on the ‘gram (and Chyna returning the favor of her own) to the IG pic of Kylie for the low blow, Tyga’s been getting the business from the beginning.
He allegedly sought revenge in hacking his baby mother’s Twitter account to tweet, “Im a gold digger & a cheater. I never really loved Tyga It was always about the money,” and referred to Chyna as a ‘hoe.’ It looks like the words from that one interview got under everyone’s skin, except the youngest Jenner who has yet to say anything. Between this and Nicki’s public fallout with Safaree Samuels, it looks like YMCMB takes the cake for social media beefs of 2014.
