Singer and fashion maven Solange can add advocate to her growing resume. The style icon will promote and celebrate African fashion this year as part of a Studio Africa and EDUN/Diesel collaboration that includes a 25-piece denim collection—all crafted from Ugandan cotton and manufactured in Africa.
Through a series of live events via online broadcaster Boiler Room, African and Western musicians will unite to celebrate creativity beyond borders. Nine African artists spanning the fashion, film, music, literature and photography arenas will also be featured throughout the campaign. The 3-part collaboration was officially launched at Paris Fashion Week with the help of A-list celebrities including Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Nicole Ritchie, Jessica Alba and Solange, who also performed.
“My love for African fashion, music and art runs deep to my core and has been a significant source of inspiration to me as an artist,” Solange told ElleUK.com. “I’m constantly being exposed to such innovative African talent so I’m excited that Diesel and Edun is celebrating that extraordinary creativity through Studio Africa and taking me along for the journey!”
