Backstage at Marissa Webb, effortlessly chic was the name of the game. Lead hairstylist, Linh Nguyen, was inspired by that rocker chic girl that isn’t trying too hard to stand out. Nguyen described Webb’s designs as an effortless look that everyone wants to wear, saying that the clothing is not forced, which inspired his modern Amy Winehouse-esque looks for the girls. The two punk looks were a tousled/bed head and an updo reminiscent of the vintage pompadour.
Both styles gave the illusion of the shaved look on one side and a natural messiness on the other, while bobby pins were used to hold the side swoops and updos in place. “It’s that girl who partied all night and probably went home with someone and doesn’t remember,” Nguyen said. Nguyen used Redken hot sets 22, fashion work 12, hardwear 16, and nature’s rescue to complete the styles.
Bobbi Brown make-up artist, Cassandra Garcia gave the models a natural and polished look for the show. Bobbi Brown’s Blazing Red Rich Lip Color, which launches spring ‘14, painted the models’ lips an orange-red with a matte finish, making the lip a statement but not overwhelmingly so. Their faces fell in line with the Bobbi Brown motto of flawless and natural, using the long-wear even finish compact foundation and foundation stick. Cheeks were kept soft using the brightening nudes brightening finishing powder from the Nude Glow Collection, also launching spring ’14. Brows were muted as to not make them the center of attention. The hair and make-up for the show stayed in line with Marissa Webb’s collection this season, cool, classic, and undoubtedly rock & roll.
