While out in Sydney, Australia for his Down Under concert, Ice Cube gave fans a first look at the upcoming Straight Outta Compton N.W.A. biopic. Starring O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Ice Cube), Jason Mitchell (Eazy-E), Corey Hawkins (Dr. Dre), Aldis Hodge (MC Ren) and Neil Brown Jr. (DJ Yella), the film delves into the narrative of the West Coast pioneers.
Directed by F. Gary Gray, the first clip features the voice of the group’s manager Jerry Heller (played by Paul Giamatti), who sets the tone for the teaser with by describing N.W.A.’s now-legendary appeal.
“I’ll tell you what I see here. A lot of raw talent, a fire, bravado. You boys scared me to death. They said you’re dangerous. But you have a unique voice. The world needs to hear it.”
Ending with the fictional Eazy E’s declaration of his group’s name, the trailer just made us all that much more excited for the film to hit theaters in August 2015.
