Tammy Rivera had Twitter on fire Friday (Dec. 2) thanks to an interview explaining why she stayed with Waka Flocka after he cheated. The Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star apparently believes that it’s “weak” for a woman to leave an unfaithful husband.
In the interview, Rivera praised Waka as a “good man,” who didn’t grow up in a two-parent home and was therefore unaware that infidelity isn’t a good look.
“You have men who aren’t growing up with fathers, not making excuses for men to cheat, but you have men who never seen what a household is supposed to look like –- my husband was never in a married household,” she explained. “He didn’t know… My mom always told me, you can find a man who can financially take care of you, you can find a man who might not be a cheater, might have it all together, might’ve grew up with a father in their household, but it’s hard to find real love and a person who genuinely loves you and who is willing to change, my husband was willing to change for his family.”
Ultimately, Waka’s willingness to change made her give him another chance.
“Why would I give up on my husband? I’m not that type, “ continued the mother of one. “I think it’s weak of a woman to do that. It’s easier to walk away as opposed to speaking up! No, we’re going to fight for this. We got married. My family is worth fighting for.”
It’s important to note that lots of women, including reality stars, wives of politicians, musicians, athletes and more, stick around after cheating (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing) so Rivera isn’t alone in her thought process.
In fact, the popularity of women sticking around after infidelity suggests that staying is potentially easier than walking away. That said, Twitter didn’t agree with Rivera’s opinions, and the issue appears to be her willingness to bash one life choice in an attempt to uplift her own.
Also, Rivera says the blog “switched up” her words.
Lol just now logging on Twitter in weeks lol and y’all all worked up over a blog site that switched up my words 😭 y’all need a life

Tammy Rivera should just be quiet at this point. If you want to stay in an unhealthy marriage, cool. But don’t bash other women for leaving.

Nah, Tammy Rivera is bugged out. Stop trying to justify your actions and just do you. Don’t shame other people to make yourself feel better.

Tammy Rivera took Waka back after he cheated on her multiple times and got the nerves to call women who want better “weak”.

Tammy, stop normalizing cheating in marriages. It’s a gender bias, cause if you cheated, bet my life savings Waka would have been gone.
