Taraji P. Henson is slated to host BET’s gospel music special, Celebration of Gospel. She will be the first predecessor of Steve Harvey, who recently concluded his 13-year run of the annual show. With her witty but poised personality, you can expect the Academy Award nominee to keep viewers entertained.
“I am thrilled to join the BET “Celebration of Gospel” family,” Taraji said in a statement about her new role. “I look forward to a great evening of incredible music and continuing the rich history of BET and gospel music which started 14 years ago hosted by the talented and very funny Steve Harvey.”
This year’s festivities are decked out with a variety of gospel, r&b, and neo-soul performances from Sunday’s Best winner LeAndria, gospel sensation Tye Tribbett, Lalah Hathaway, Chante Moore, American Idol winner Ruben Studdard, India Arie, soulful crooner Kem, SWV and many more.
The gospel presentation will premiere on BET on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 8 p.m. EST.
