Taylor Swift’s fifth studio album, 1989, hit shelves yesterday but what we’re really interested in is Taylor Swift’s new title of Global Welcome Ambassador for New York City. Before you go blaming Mayor DeBlasio, it was NYC & Company. The city’s official marketing, tourism and partnership organization, chose the “Shake It Off” singer after she moved to Manhattan and named the opening track off the album, “Welcome to New York.”
What’s even more hilarious (other than a non-New Yorker being the ambassador) is Taylor Swift’s video of her highlighting important vocabulary words for anyone new to NYC. Yes, her break down of what a “bodega” is sounds very…robotic.
Head to www.nycgo.com to see more of Taylor Swift in all of her ambassador glory, including her talk about having a good cup of coffee (I wonder if she’s had Café Bustelo from the papi’s in the South Bronx) and picking a random neighborhood to walk around in (head uptown to Harlem Ms. Swift).
