With the first 24 hours of the fall season upon us the seal is not only on the 2014 summer season but its soundtrack as well. While the wave of summer 2013 was styled by rooftop soirees, hosted by Daft Punk, Robin Thicke and Pha-Real, this year’s equator saw unbridled young R&B dominate with day parties. To give the warm season a proper adieu we present to all the official VIBE 2014 Summer Soundtrack (the top 10 songs that we lived with over the most recent dog days).
An arduous exercise to narrow this list down (so sorry Young Thug & T.I.) but we’re tough…so tough that we’re a bit masochistic––we couldn’t serve you a measly Top 10 list and call it a day. Instead, to accompany our 2014 summer player, over the next couple days we’ll be gifting you the soundtrack to every summer from 2014 back to 1994. No joke. Go back and peep how Biggie’s crew ran 1997 and Murder Inc killed 2002. This all before a crunk south snap and trapped their way to the throne. It’s truly a gorgeously sunny stroll down memory lane. So throw on your Ray Bans one last time and bask the labor of our latest heat (we so bright!).
