What do you do when your money is low and your hair looks a mess?
Luckily you can find the best products for your hair right in your kitchen. The most popular items for home hair remedies are honey and olive oil. Honey provides the vitamins, nutrients, minerals and moisture to your hair while olive oil is also your hair’s best friend nourishes your tresses, making them stronger.
There’s also coconut oil, eggs and cinnamon, baby powder and several other pantry items that can have your hair back to heathy.–Desire Thompson
Remedy 1: Want shiny hair?
This natural ayurvedic remedy does the trick if you want shiny hair. Take one mashed banana, one egg (with yolk), three tablespoons of milk and three tablespoons of honey, place it all in a bowl and mix well. You can use a blender or a fork–whatever works for you. Start at the scalp and apply through hair and leave in for 30 mins. Wash with a mild shampoo. After two tries you will actually see the difference!
Many people believe that it is best to sit under a dryer during the 30 minutes, but from experience it only makes the mix hard- and some of the mix won’t rest on the scalp!
Remedy 2: Damaged your hair?
Take a ½ cup of olive oil, place in a cool dark place for 24 hours and shake before use. The oil needs to be ready to place in your hair. If hair is severely damaged, then heat up the oil before use (only 20 second or until warm). Your hair needs to be wet, so wash your hair first and use the oil as a conditioner. Massage the oil with fingertips through the scalp and add some extra love to those split ends. Place a shower cap (I put mine inside out-it’s easier to clean after) or a plastic bag on hair for 30 minutes. When time is up, rinse and wash hair as usual.
If you love avocado, then you will love this one! The best way to get volume isn’t through the dryer, those pesky hot rollers or hairspray. Mix one egg yolk, 1/2 cup of honey and two small ripe avocados in one bowl. Put on hair thoroughly and leave it in for two hours. Shampoo and condition like normal, then your hair will be Bankhead bouncing in no time.
So you can’t afford that color job for at least a couple more weeks. Vinegar will be more than happy to fill in! Since some minerals in water create a brass look for un-natural blondes and redheads, vinegar helps bind the color to your hair for a longer time. Take 1/2 cup of distilled vinegar and 1/2 cup of filtered water and apply to hair. After, rinse with cool water. The cool water is gentle on your hair and opens up the follicles. This remedy will also have your color shining brighter than before.
