When George Zimmerman shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin to death in February 2012 the entire country shed a tear. Now more than a year later, Zimmerman’s trial is finally underway.
Yesterday and today (June 27) prosecutors in the case brought in Rachel Jeantel, Trayvon Martin’s friend (several sources speculate they were lovers) who is also the last person he spoke with before he died. During her testimony, the defense tried to poke holes in her story, but the 19-year-old held very little back.
Herewith, we provide her best quotes from the trial.

“That’s real retarded, sir.”
Today, Defense attorney Don West asked Rachel how she knew Trayvon didn’t start the fight.
“You figured if Trayvon Martin was getting ready to sucker punch someone and get in a fight, he would have told you, ‘Let me take care of this and I’ll call you right back?’” West asked.
“No sir, he would not allow me on the phone with him if he was about the have a fight,” Jeantel answered. “That’s real retarded sir.”
“You ain’t get that from me!”
As West insisted that Trayvon attacked Zimmerman, Rachel responded with: “You ain’t get that from me!”
We feel you girl!
“Don’t you watch The First 48?”
When attorneys asked Rachel why she didn’t call the police after learning Trayvon died, she replied, “Don’t you watch First 48?” Rachel thought the police would contact her because she was the last person Travon spoke with.
“Are you listening?”
After Rachel was asked the same question multiple ways by Zimmeran’s attorney, she grew frustrated and asked what most of us where thinking at home: “Are you listening?”
