Whitney Houston fans will tune into Lifetime for The Houstons: On Our Own, a reality show starring the late pop legend’s family. Today, sister-in-law Pat Houston, her daughter Rayah and Houston matriarch Cissy all stopped by our favorite gabfest, The View, to talk about letting cameras capture their lives just eight months after losing Whitney. Barbara Walters held nothing back as she came at the ladies with hard-hitting questions, mostly about Whitney’s only child, Bobbi Kristina.
When asked about whether the show is exploiting her niece, Pat firmly responds no, despite her concerns over Krissy’s drinking habits and relationship with god-brother-turned-fiancee Nick Gordon. Cissy chimed in saying, “You got a teenager who is 19 years old and loses her mother. And doesn’t feel like she doesn’t really have to listen. You can’t make anybody do something you try to suggest.”
The family also wants audiences to know that the show isn’t just about Bobbi: “The show isn’t technically just about Bobbi Kristina. The Houstons consist of her mother, her uncle and myself.” Pat continues, “A reality series or not, the cameras have been following her since she was born. It’s not an exploitation of any kind. The family’s together–she’s not isolated by any means. It’s actually the continuation of a project we were working on. The name just changed.”
What are your thoughts on the Houstons’ reality show? Sound off, Vixens!–Nicole Brown
